St. John 1
The Word Made Flesh

1     In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.
2     The same was in the beginning with God.
3     All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made.
4     In him was life; and the life was the light of men.
5     And the light shineth in darkness; and the darkness comprehended it not.
6     ¶ There was a man sent from God, whose name was John. Mt. 3.1 · Mk. 1.4 · Lk. 3.1, 2
7     The same came for a witness, to bear witness of the Light, that all men through him might believe.
8     He was not that Light, but was sent to bear witness of that Light.
9     ¶ That was the true Light, which lighteth every man that cometh into the world.

LUKE 8:

11 Now the parable is this: The seed is the word of God.
12 Those by the wayside are they that hear; then cometh the devil, and taketh away the word out of their hearts, lest they should believe and be saved.
13 They on the rock are they, which, when they hear, receive the word with joy; and these have no root, which for a while believe, and in time of temptation fall away.
14 And that which fell among thorns are they, which, when they have heard, go forth, and are choked with cares and riches and pleasures of this life, and bring no fruit to perfection.
15 But that on the good ground are they, which in an honest and good heart, having heard the word, keep it, and bring forth fruit with patience.
